Heng-Tai-Hong

While the 'Vega Aquarius' was en route from Singapore to China, five perpetrators armed with knives were sighted on the stern deck in position 01 51 01N, 104 04 48.0E, three miles north of Pulau Nongsa on May 9, 2020, at 11.45 p.m. The perpetrators confronted the duty seaman and stole his cellular phone. The duty seaman managed to escape and alerted the Master who was in the wheelhouse. The alarm was sounded and the crew mustered in the wheelhouse. A search of the vessel was conducted by the crew after the perpetrators had escaped and two sets of breathing apparatus were reported stolen. The ordinary seaman had sustained a minor head injury.
