Master died off Lavrio
In the evening of Oct 18,, 2020, the crew of 22 of the 'Kingfisher D' requested medical assistance after the 47-year old Master of the ship, had lost conscience upon the arrival of the vessel at Lavrio anchorage, coming from Bejaia. The Master was medevaced, but was found to be dead on arrival ashore. The cause of the death was thought to have been a heart attack or a stroke. The Central Port Authority of Lavrio, which was conducting the preliminary investigation, ordered an autopsy - necropsy at the Forensic Medicine Service of Piraeus, while the departure of the ship was prohibited as it did not cover its minimum safe crew strength. As of Oct 20, the bulk carrier remained anchored off Lavrio.
