Explosion in engine room, English Channel
Tanker suffered an explosion in engine room early in the morning April 9 2012, at the time of explosion vessel was some 30 nm north of Barfleur, France, English Channel, en route from Bilbao to Teesport with cargo of butane. Fire started after the fire, crew managed to extinguish the fire, but two crew were injured, one suffering serious burns. Injured crewmen were evacuated by French helicopters, tanker resumed voyage as explosion and fire didn’t damage the engine, though AIS shows tanker proceeding at reduced speed.
