Amjad

The U.S. Central Command confirmed an attack on the 'Amjad' by Houthi terrorists on Sep 2, 2024. The vessel was hit by missiles and the Unmanned Aerial System (UAS). The tanker was loaded with two million barrels of crude oil en route from to Ju'Aymah to Ain Sukhna.

Satellite images from the area above the port of Fujairah showed that there may be a fuel oil spill from one of the ships attacked by the sabotage actions on May 12. The ship in question, the "Amjad", has allegedly leaked bunker oil for four days. The spill covered an area of about 37 square kilometers on May 16, just four days after the alleged sabotage actions. The Norwegian tanker "Andrea Victory, 29214 gt (IMO: 9288849), suffered a hole in the stern at the height of the waterline due to a sabotage act on May 12, 2019, off the coast of the United Arab Emirates port of Fujairah outside the Strait of Hormuz, as well as the Saudi Arbabian tank m/v "Al Marzoqah", 58141 gt (IMO: 9165762), which was on its way to supply fuel from Ras Al Nour to the USA to supply Aramco clients. The "Andrea Victory" had arrived on Fujairah Anchorage on May 11. At least four tankers were damaged on Fujairah Anchorage. The third victim was the bunkering tanker "A. Michel", 4246 gt (IMO:9177674) flying the flag of the United Arab Emirates, which was listing to starboard and surrounded by an oil boom in pos. 25° 10.48' N 056° 31.38' E, and the fourth the crude oil tanker "Amjad", 154252 gt (IMO: 9779800) in pos. 25° 18.15' N 056° 28.42' E. The preliminary investigations from the authorities in the Emirates showed that magnetic mines have probably been used to burst holes in the hulls of the ships.
