Allision in Brunsbüttel
On Feb 26, 2020, at 12.53 a.m. the 'Hav Tuna' allided with jetty 1 of the locks of the Kiel Canal in Brunsbüttel upon entering en route from Gijon to Szczecin. Upon entering the foreport of the small lock, the ship was drifted by strong currents too far towards the jetty and hit two dolphins with its starboard side bow. While there were no reports on damages to the ship, the dolphins were damaged, and the incident was investigated by the water police Brunsbüttel inside the lock. At 2.30 a.m. the ship started its eastbound canal transit with an ETA in Poland as of Feb 27, 9 a.m.
Engine defects off Montrose
The "Kopersand", en route from Humber to Montrose, with a crew of seven on board, reported small defects in the engine in position 56 38 36 N, 002 27 36 W, on Nov 9, 2018, at 12.50 p.m. The defects were first reported by Montrose Harbour at 11.30 a.m. and the time of first defect was unknown. Later, the vessel stated that the small defects were resolved, and its engine was at 100 %. The vessel remained at anchor until it was deemed safe to enter Montrose on Nov 11. It berthed at the North Quay of the port at 4.30 p.m. Assistance by the tug "Pacific Dolphin" was declined by the vessel. The weather at scene was winds of Beaufort 7 to 9 veering southwest to 5 or 6.
Next engine damage
The "Kopersand" lost main engine power again in 50 46 N 01 19 W on March 8. After the crew managed to restarte the engines, the ship was escorted out of Southampton waters by a tug to a nearby anchorage at Saltmead, where repairs are being conducted. It was under way to its destination Pasajes. The Solent coastguard was monitoring the vessel in the UK Exclusive Economic Zone and conducting three hourly position checks on AIS. At the time of the failure at 2.30 a.m. the vessel was under way 13.22 nautical miles from Barfleur in position 49 52 21.97N, 001 07 46.57W. The vessel had 2.500 tonnes of rape seed and 27 tonnes of gasoline on board. The ship arrived at Pasajes on March 15.
