Russian captain drunk at the helm
In the night of Jan 29, 2013, the Danish police arrested the captain of the "Amethyst" who was found to have been drunk. The Danish Sea Operating Command had suspected him to have consumed alcohol after a radio contact during the ship's northbound transit of the Øre Sound being bound from Flushing to Ghent. A police boat was sent and a boarding team entered the ship. The captain at the helm of the "Amethyst" was found under the influence of alcohol. The 59-year-old captain had to pass an alcohol test, a blood sample was taken. The captain was appear before a judge on Jan 29. The ship was detained by the authorities and anchored off Copenhagen.
