A man has died aboard the 'Celestine' on March 10, 2021, near Gravesend. The HM Coastguard was alerted to reports a crew member on vessel Celestine required medical attention while making passage up the River Thames. An SAR helicopter was sent from Lydd to assist around midday. The ship was diverted to the port of Tilbury. An ambulance, rapid response vehicle and three vehicles from the hazardous area response team were called out just before 2 p.m. Medics worked with the patient on the ferry but despite their efforts he died. The PLA was assisted by the Port of Tilbury in responding to the incident.
