Poisonous cloud of ammonia leaked from LPG tanker Gas Columbia, Ukraine
In the afternoon Oct 12 13 ammonia gas leaked from LPG tanker Gas Columbia, berthed at 3-rd berth in Yuzniy port, Ukraine, Black sea. Emission was caused by cargo pipeline default, soon after tanker loaded a cargo of ammonia. Some 200 liters leaked, creating a murderous vapour cloud. Cloud was dispersed by port firefighting teams and three firefighting boats, using water cannons. Port authority ordered partial evacuation of port’s staff. By 1830 LT cloud was dispersed, emergency regime called off, no injures reported.
