Ship ran into embankment of Kiel Canal
On Jan 20, 2025, at 11:53 a.m. the "Havelland" en route from Sundsvall to Kingston-upon-Hull, suffered an engine failure during the westbound transit of the Kiel Canal near Rade and ran into the southern embankment. The canal did not need to be closed because the ship managed to free itself and dropped anchor on site, waiting for the tug "Parat" (IMO: 8128212) which was deployed from Kiel to assist the ship further. At 3 p.m. UTC, it started heading to the port of Rendsburg for investigations, where it berthed at 3.50 p.m. and was released at 11.20 p.m. The ship resumed the canal transit and finally arrived at the port of destination on Jan 22.
