On May 13, 2016, the "Island Captain" spilt 25-50 cubicm meters hydrochloric acid into the Northsea due to a leak in the pump chamber, during a routine acid pumping operation with the installation "Syd Arne". The hydrochloric acid was discharged for the safety of the ship's crew. The ship headed to Esbjerg where it berthed at the container quay on May 14 at 9 a.m. Two of the 37 men had suffered burns.
