Two missing after collision off Vung Tau
The "Guo Shun 21" was in collison with the Vietnamese flagged cargo vessel "Thanh Dat 01" in pos. 11 00N 109 00E, 120 miles northeast of Vung Tau in the South China Sea on Aug 8, 2016. The "Thanh Dat 01" was en route from Vung Tau to Nghi Son in the Gulf of Tonkin, being loaded with 2718 tons of steel. The "Guo Shun 21" was en route from Yokohama to Phu My - Vung Tau. The MRCC Vietnam was alerted at 11.58 p.m. The Vietnamese freighter sank, of the 10 crew members and one passenger on board, nine rescued by the other ship. The master and 2nd engineer went missing. The freighters "Tancang Glory" (IMO: 9334105) and "Fortune Freighter" (IMO: 9168520) joined the SAR operation.
