Rudder failure in Bosphorus
On Oct 14, 2023, the 'Sophia Z', en route from Varna to Barcelona, suffered a rudder failure in front of Umuryeri, while transiting the Bosphorus southwards. under the coordination of the Istanbul VTH Center, the tugs 'Kurtarma 7' (IMO: 9598608), 'Kurtarma 8' (IMO: 9598610) und 'Kurtarma 9' (IMO: 9598581) as we,, as tbe lifeboat 'Kiyem 8', a pilot and divers were deployed to assist. The ship was towed to the anchorage of Ahırkapı for troubleshooting.
