Repairs longer than expected
The "Harlingerland" will have to stay longer than expected at the Fridrich Luerssen Yard in Bremen-Lemwerder for repairs. She had sailed from Harlesiel on Oct 15 at 2.50 p.m and arrived in Bremen on Oct 16 at 2.45 a.m. Repairs lasted until Oct 18. During this time schedule changes were to be expected with the other ships on the route Harlesiel-Wangerooge. The ship resumed its schedule to the island on Oct 19 at 6.40 a.m.
Ferry will have to be repaired in yard
The "Harlingerland" is still not repaired and will now have to go to a yard. The ship was being berthed in Harlingersiel since Oct 9, which meant changes in the schedule between Wangerooge and Harlesiel. Now the "Wappen von Borkum" has been deployed to assist in carrying the passengers in addition to the "Jens Albrecht III“ and the "Wangerooge“ to carry their baggage.
Ferry ran aground off Wangerooge
The "Harlingerland" ran aground with 42 passengers and a crew of six on board in the Wadden Sea on Dec 20, 2017, around 3.30 p.m., about one hour after the scheduled departure from Wangerooge to Harlesiel. As the ship was unable to refloat with own power, a tug was called to assist, but the attempt to pull the ferry off the sand bar failed due to the low tide. While the captain was waiting for the flood, the passengers were supplied on board. Forces of the DGzRS and other ships were ready to evacuate the ship in case needed. At 11 p.m. the "Harlingerland" managed to back off the shallow and entered the port of Harlesiel at midnight where the passengers were disembarked with a delay of about nine hours. The ship was detained fo investigations and surveys regarding its seaworthiness. It sailed again on Dec 22 at 3 p.m. on its first scheduled departure to Wangerooge.
