119 migrants rescued from three boats

The CCS Las Palmas of Salvamento Marítimo mobilized the 'Guardamar Polimnia' for the assistance of two precarious boats that were located 14 respectively 20 nautical miles east/southeast of Arrecife. Aboard the 1st vessel were 56 people. among them 53 men and three woman. After the rescue, the 'Guardamar Polimnia' proceedsedto the 2nd boat, also with 56 people on board, among them 50 men, four women and two minors. A total of 112 people were reescued. At 6:00 a.m. they arrived in Arrecife. The CCS Valencia of Salvamento Marítimo coordinated the rescue of seven Sub-Saharan migrants about 30 kilometres from Alicante by the 'Salvamar Leo'. Rescue of 47 migrants supported by two merchant ships

On Oct 18, at dawn, the 'Guardamar Polimnia' rescued 47 migrants of Maghrebin orgigin from an inflatable boat, which had been located 61 nautical miles notheast of Lanzarote. At 6:53 a.m LT, the disembation of the boat people commenced in the port of Arrecife. The response was coordinated by the CCS of Salvamento Marítimo in Las Palmas. The bulk carrier 'Federal Imabari' (IMO: 9774331), en route from Annaba to Nouakchott, and the container m/v 'Dagmar' (IMO: 9354399), en route from Agadir to Algeciras, who were in the area, collaborated in the rescue operation. The 'Guardamar Polimnia' and the Sasemar 103 aircraft have been working since early morning of Oct 16 to locate two inflatable boats and a number of migrants who jumped into the water, trying to reach a merchant ship near Lanzarote. During the night, the merchant ship had intercepted one boat. At least eight occupants jumped into the sea in order to swim to the ship. Five of them remained missing. A third inflatable boat was missing too and has not yet been recovered.

On the early morning of Sep 20, the CCS of Salvamento Marítimo in Las Palmas was informed by the fishing vessel 'Santuario Barquereño' about the sighting of a small boat with about 50 people on board in its vicinity, about 60 nautical miles from Arrecife. The inflatable boat had approached the ship, and the migrants claimed to be adrift, having run out of fuel. The 'Guardamar Polimnia' was mobilized to assist and rescued the migrants four hours later. More than 100 migrants rescued off Gran Canaria, one deceased, one medevac

The 'Guardamar Polimnia' hat rescued more than 100 migrants from distress south of Gran Canaria on Aug 3, 2025. One person died, another was in critical condition and flown to Gran Canaria by helicopter. The French research vessel 'Beautemps-Beaupré' (IMO: 9098361) had initially sighted the overcrowded boat at 6:50 p.m. approximately 185 kilometers off the Moroccan coast near Dakhla. The 'Guardamar Polimnia' was subsequently alerted and reached the area after about 11 hours. Rescue operation south of Gran Canaria. The French naval ship remained nearby at the request of Salvamento Marítimo, until the SAR vessel arrived on scene. The crew of the 'Guardamar Polimnia' took the migrants on board and set course for the port of Arguineguín, Gran Canaria. The seriously injured person was flown to Gran Canaria Airport by the SAR helicopter Helimer 202 and dropped off at 3:55 p.m., An ambulance transported the patient further to a hospital. The rescued migrants arrived at the port of Arguineguín at 8:40 p.m.

44 migrants assisted to Arrecife

Salvamento Marítimo rescued 44 people aboard a small boat, which was sailing approximately 50 nautical miles off Lanzarote, on June 1. At around 7:00 a.m., the MRCC in Las Palmas received a phone call with a position at sea, with no other information. Later, another call indicated that it was a small boat, close to a ship. The 'Guardamar Polimnia' was moblilized, which shortly afterward received confirmation of the sighting of the small boat, 50 miles off Lanzarote, from the m/v 'Hyperion Ray,' which escorted it until the lifeboat arrived. Minutes before 11 a.m. its crew spotted the boat and proceeded minutes later to rescue the 44 people on board, all of them of sub-Saharan African origin and in apparent good health. The vessel arrived in Arrecife, at around 1:30 p.m.

88 migrants rescued off Lanzarote

On the afternoon of May 8, 2025, the 'Guardamar Polimnia' rescued 88 people of sub-Saharan origin from two inflatable boats, one of which was located 41 nautical miles northeast of Lanzarote and the second one 27 miles east of Lanzarote. One boat was located northeast of Arrecife, after an emergency call reached the authorities at 4:56 p.m. The boat was located approximately 104 kilometers northeast of Arrecife. The RCC responded quickly and dispatched the 'Guardamar Polimnia'. The crew was able to safely board the 54 shipwrecked people, among them 10 unaccompanied minors, at 9:51 p.m. The rescue ship finally reached the port of Arrecife at 1:05 a.m. The Centro Coordinador de Emergencias y Seguridad (CECOES) reported that not all of the rescued people were in good health: One person had to be taken to the Doctor José Molina Orosa Hospital for further examination. The 'Guardamar Polimnia' has assisted two precarious boats on the afternoon of Feb 11. The first one was located 47 kilometres east of Lanzarote, with 60 people on board. A merchant ship had sighted the second one in the same area, and the 'Guardamar Polimnia' embarked the 37 people on board.
