11 stowaways discovered in Lagos
A Nigerian Navy patrol team has intercepted 11 stowaways aboard the 'Ghuangzhou Highway' at the Lagos anchorage in the evening of Oct 17, 2023. They were arrested and handed over to the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS). Four stowaways were apprehended from the stern of the vessel. However, information provided by them revealed the presence of additional stowaways inside the ship. Following a comprehensive search, seven more were were discovered. All were disembarked from the vessel and taken into custody. The ship had arrived at Lagos on Oct 15 and left in the evening of Oct 17, bound for Tema.
