Happiness-I

The 'Happiness 1’, which had been held at Jeddah port since May 2 after having suffered an engine failure on April 30 near Jeddah, after having been released was taken in tow by the tugs "Baltic Pearl" (IMO: 9321598) and "Mississippi" (IMO: 9305726) and left Jeddah on July 20 at 5 a.m. The ships headed to Khor al Fakan with an ETA as of Aug 25.

The ‘Happiness 1’ that was held at Jeddah port in Saudi Arabia since May 2, has been released. The tanker had suffered an engine failure on April 30 near Jeddah and was forced to carry out repairs at the port. After the damage was fixed, the Saudis refused to let the ship leave, charging Iran $200,000 a day for repairing the vessel despite the fact that Iran had paid over $10 million to the port authority for maintenance costs. After 80 days, following negotiations between the National Iranian Tanker Company and the Saudis, the vessel and its 26 crewmembers were heading home. It was not clear under what conditions the tanker was released and if more money was paid because neither Tehran nor Riyadh have disclosed any details.

The "Happiness I" was anchored at the Jeddah port anchorage in pos. 21° 18.27' N 039° 2.47' E, and repair works were in progress. Tugs from Jeddah port were standing by the vessel. On May 17 the "Topaz Karama" (IMO: 9591260) was anchored close to the ship. Tugs towed the vessel to the Jeddah anchorage where repairs were in progress as of May 30.
