Two crew members tested positive for coronavirus

May 08, 2020 11:59

Two crew members of the 'Barbara' have been tested positive for coronavirus when they arrived at the port of Santos on May 1, 2020. The crew arrived on the coast of São Paulo with symptoms. The entire crew was tested in Santos. With the confirmation, the port of Santos informed Anvisa de Itajaí about the positive cases. The ship docked at both APM Terminals and Portonave. The two operators issued notes informing that on April 29 and 30 the ship docked with Anvisa's authorization. According to the APM, the agency did not pass on any information that indicated the presence of any crew member with flu symptoms before operating at the Itajaí Port complex. The information was only passed on to Anvisa when the freighter arrived in Santos. The two crew members who had their disease confirmed worked in the engine room, which reduced the risk of contact with workers in Itajaí. The vessel received authorization and clearance from Anvisa. The crew had no contact with workers at the port of Navegantes. Everyone who accessed the vessel is being monitored and none of them showed any symptoms. As of May 8, the ship remained at Santos anchorage.
