Collision off Hakodate
The "Asakaze No. 5", being deployed on the Aomori – Hakodate route, collided with the tanker "Taiko Maru" at Hakodate in the morning of Nov 13, 2016. The accident happened while the ferry leaving for Aomori with some 30 people on board. The tanker struck the ferry’s starboard with the bow. Both vessels suffered slight damages, but the ferry remained operating.
