Landing craft experienced hinge failure
The temporary shipping solution on King Island, the "Investigator II", experienced a hinge failure in the night of May 30, 2017. The hinge failed on a ramp extension during a livestock crossing to Grassy. The vessel had already raised concerns by King Island residents about its size, reliability and durability. The vessel returned to Devonport for repairs which were expected to be completed within 24 hours. No cattle were on board at the time and no crew members were injured.
