The 'Intergod VII' was successfully refloated on Feb 4. During the procedure, established technical and safety protocols were applied, with the constant support of maritime authorities. Starting at 6:30 p.m., a specialized team from DIMAR. the Colombian Maritime Authority, and the Santa Marta Port Authority began the operation, working diligently to position the bow towards the open sea, which took hours. With the vessel aligned, the towing began. At 9:00 p.m., the vessel was pulled off and safely docked at the Santa Marta Port Society's piers. No spills were reported. The operation was carried out in coordinated efforts of DIMAR and private contractors and allowed the situation to be addressed and maritime traffic in the area to be restored to normal. The 'Intergod VII' ran aground on Los Cocos beach in Santa Marta after being pushed by waves up to four meters high, which were generated by swells in the Colombian Caribbean on Feb 2, 2026, at 10.30 p.m. The vessel lost maneuverability amid the difficult sea conditions and ended up stranded a few meters from the shore, right next to the marina in the capital of Magdalena. According to the ship's captain, the vessel lacked sufficient power to leave the area due to the current. On Feb 3, the maritime authorities were inspecting the site to assess the condition of the vessel and determine if there was any damage. After verification with DADSA, DIMAR, and the Navy, it was confirmed that the vessel was not carrying fuel and did not pose a significant environmental risk. OOn Feb 3 a tug was deployed and connected the tow cable to the vessel; however, the line has not yet been tensioned, while technical verifications were carried out and sea conditions were assessed to begin the towing safely. The work was being carried out with the support of the Colombian Navy Coast Guard Station and specialized personnel, maintaining strict safety and environmental protection protocols to avoid any impact on the marine ecosystem.
