On Jan 8, the 'Hamid S' made an emergency departure from Ege Gübre Port due to adverse weather conditions, but the ship ran aground short time later in pos. 38° 46' N 026° 56'E and issued a distress call. The 18 crew members on board were safely evacuated. No casualties or injuries were reported. Investigations were launched, and a and a salvage plan was charted, weather permitting, under the coordination of the Aliağa Regional Port Authority.
