Medevac on Paraná River
Rescuers from the Argentine Naval Prefecture medevaced a crew member of the 'Ingenuity', who had an accident while the shgip was navigating at kilometer mark 138 of the Paraná River, province of Buenos Aires, en route from Singapore and destined for Punta Alvear, The 61 years old male from Romania had fallen from a height of six meters into the cargo hold, suffering a severe injury to his arm and his head. After carrying out a radio consultation with a doctor, a medevac was recpmmmended, and a helicopter with specially trained Prefecture personnel took off from the Buenos Aires Air Station. Once at the ship, the crew member was hoisted directly from the hold and received the first attention on board the aircraft, while ashore an ambulance from the Department was waiting, which transferred the victim to the Argerich Hospital for medical care. Bulkcarrier refloated
The "Nord Hydra", which ran aground on the Paraná River on May 19, was refloated on May 21 at 4.10 p.m. and held by the Argentine tug "Ranquel" (IMO: 9688702). Traffic restrictions have been introduced on both the upstream and downstream navigation on the waterway, so shipping was permitted only for ships with a draught of less than 7,5 meters. The grounding forced local authorities to close the canal, and at least 48 ships was delayed. The Argentine Coastguard restore full access after having investigated and mapped the area where the ship ran aground. There were unusually low water levels due to a drought in Brazil, so that the shipping channels were not deep enough.
Grounding on Paraná river
The "Nord Hydra" ran aground on the Paraná river at km mark 290 near San Pedro on May 18, 2015, around 8 p.m. The ship was proceeding upriver bound from Richards Bay to San Nicolas loaded with 46.354 metric tons of coal and a draught of 10,36 meters, was heading for the port of San Nicolas when it got stuck on a bank on the right river shore. Ship traffic in the main channel was stopped, blocking at least 48 vessels. The tugs "Madrugador" and "Tumbador 1" were called from Zarate and Rosario to refloat the vessel.
