Engine trouble offf Las Palmas
On Feb 5, 2023, the 'Xai Xing' stopped seven nautical miles southeast of Arinaga due to engine problems. The CCS of Salvamento Marítimo in Las Palmas mobilized the SAR ship 'Miguel de Cervantes' to assist, if necessary. Finally the crew managed to get the engine running again, and at 1.30 p.m. UTC the tanker berthed at the Leon Y Castillo in the port of Las Palmas.
Engine damage off La Coruna
The "Njord Cloud" suffered an engine malfunction on July 25/26, 2017, off the Spanish coast in the Atlantic, while en route from Ashdod to Rotterdam. The tanker asked for permission to call at La Coruna for emergency repairs. It managed to reach Langosteira under own power but tug assistance.
