Injured Chief Engineer medevaced
The 'Grande Portogallo', en route from Valencia to Le Havre, requested the urgent medical evacuation of its Chief Engineer,who was injured in an accident, on Dec 8, 2025. The CCS of Salvamento Marítimo in Valencia mobilized the SAR helicopter Helimer 202. The patient was hoisted andand transported to the helipad of the hospital in Valencia for further medical treatment.
Vehicles carrier caused oil spill
On Aug 21, 2021, the 'Grane Portogallo' caused an oil spill in the Gulf of Izmit at the Ford Port in the Gölcük district of Kocaeli. Security measures were taken by the Metropolitan Municipality teams around the port in the Gölcük district, and the spread of the oil was prevented by placing an oil barrier and absorbant pads around the ship which was fined 3.411.000 Liras.
