Car carrier adrift in Dardanelles
The "Grande Italia" suffered engine failure and went adrift while transiting the Dardanelles in northern direction on June 9, 2016, at 10.50 p.m. in the area of Çanakkale. The vessel traffic service sent five tugs to assist, and on June 10 at 01:05 a.m. the ship, which was enroute from Ashdod to İzmit loaded with cars and a crew of 29 on board was safely moored at Saltık Burnu in the Yapildak area.
