Grand-Dahlia

On Dec 4, 2025, the 'Grand Dahlia', en route from Le Havre to Vigo, has requested assistance from Salvamento Marítimo due to engine trouble more than eight nautical miles northwest of Cabo Home, 10 miles northwest of the Cíes Islands, at the mouth of the Vigo estuary. Salvamento Marítimo deployed the tug 'María de Maeztu' (IMO: 9429091) from Vigo to the casualty, which was proceeding towards its position at a speed of over nine knots as a safety precaution. The ro-ro vessel was drifting at a speed of around 1.7 knots, after it lost propulsion. At noon it was NUC in pos. 42° 17' N 009° 02' W. The 'María de Maeztu' provided towing assistance, followed by the tug 'Don Inda' (IMO: 9338010). The damage was eventually repaired, and the ship entered the port, escorted by the salvage vessels. The 'Grand Dahlia' had initially been scheduled to dock at the Bouzas vehicle terminal in Vigo at 11:30 a.m. and finally arrived at 6 p.m. UTC. The response was coordinated by the CCS Vigo of Salvamento Marítimo.

With 1,300 new Indian-built Ford automobiles loaded onto the Grand Dahlia on August 27th for delivery to Mexico, a new era for the Indian auto industry and Gujarat Port Pipavav commenced. The 59,217 gross ton roll on/roll off (Ro/Ro) vessel was the first to call Western India’s fastest-growing port.
