Hafnia-Caterina

Hafnia Ltd (member of BW Group) says it has entered into an agreement with Gestion Maritime to acquire two Medium Range product tankers, StenaWeco Andrea Corrado and StenaWeco Caterina Corrado. The vessels were built at Hyundai Mipo Dockyard in 2015, and are expected to be delivered October/November 2019. Sale of Hafnia AtlanticOn 30 August 2019, Hafnia entered into an agreement to sell Hafnia Atlantic (IMO 9278519), a 2004-built Liberia-flagged Medium Range product tanker.

The "Stenaweco Caterina Corrado" was boarded by seven robbers at the Puerto La Cruz anchorage who were armed with knives and took a hostage, the duty Able Seaman who was on routine rounds in position lat 10 16 50N, long 64 42 30W, on Jan 31, 2018, at 7.10 p.m. They threatened him with a knife, tied him up to the windlass rail and stole his safety shoes and portable UHF radio. Another crew member near the accommodation noticed the robbers and raised the alarm. The crew mustered, a search was carried out and the duty Able Seaman was released. The paint store was found broken into and vessel's stores stolen. Attempts to contact the port control were unsuccessful.
