Fykan

The 'Fykan' assisted in the rescue of 12 people after a Nordland boat capsized at Kunna in Meløy in the evening of Aug 8, 2023. The lifeboat and an SAR helicopter from Bodø were sent to the scene by the MRCC. The "Fykan" was among the ships nearby that diverted to assist, and all 12 from the Nordland boat were taken on board the ship. The ferry transported the victims to Horsdal on Sandhornøy, while the lifeboat remained in the area to try to salvage the boat and belongings. The "Fykan" with 29 passengers on board suffered engine failure enroute from Kilboghamn to Jektvik in Rødøy in the afternoon of Mar 27, 2015. First one of the two main engines failed, and before the ferry arrived at the port also the second main engine conked out, leaving the ship without power. The fishing vessel "Sjåviknes" towed the ferry to the quay . The ship was taken out of service until the cause of the failure was resolved, and the "Rødøy" was inserted as replacement ferry. Technical problems with the ferry "Fykan", which is running in the Rødøybassenget and had to be taken out of service on July 16, 2012, caused queues after also the Kilboghamn - Jektvik ferry had to remain at the quay. A smaller ferrzy was inserted as replacement for both ferries. A large queue of cars was waiting to get from Jektvik to Kilboghamn.
