Broken connection caused oil spill
About 12 tons of diesel oil leaked into the sea from the 'Alsu' at the pier of the fuel oil facility in Tekirdağ during fuel loading operations when the connection broke on June 1, 2024. The diesel leaked over the ship's side. Following the incident, Coast Guard Command and Tekirdağ Port Authority teams were dispatched to the port and launched an investigation. The Tekirdağ Port Authority imposed a fine of 120006000 liras on the owner company. Precautions were taken at the port and cleaning efforts commenced.
