Allision in Ijmuiden
In the morning of Nov 25, 2015, the "Sardius" allided with the dike in IJmuiden due to gear trouble. Rijkswaterstaat was on scene at the canal dike which is an important artery for traffic through IJmuiden. The ship was enroute to Amsterdam. Sardius the first freighter to have been fined for a SECA violation in Norway
The De Bock Maritiem BV in Alkmaar became the first operator to be fined for a violation of the Sulphur Emission Control Area (SECA) content in Norway. Their vessel "Sardius" did not switch from heavy fuel to a clean one in SECA, and the operator was fined with $ 12,250.
