The former "Costa Magica" is facing a relaunch and has been sold to Tianjin Orient International Cruises. After extensive renovations, it is expected to sail again starting in the summer season of 2026 for the Chinese market. The ship has been moored in Greek waters since its sale to the Greek shipping company Seajets in 2023. It had completed its last voyage for Costa in 2020. In 2024, the new shipping company Neonyx Cruises planned to deploy the ship under the name "Goddess of Night" in the eastern Mediterranean. Instead, it was used as a floating hotel during the G7 summit in Brindisi. Up to 2,600 police officers were to be housed there. However, the ship's condition caused criticism. Officers refused accommodation on board because the ship apparently had significant defects. The Italian authorities temporarily seized it as evidence. In Asia, it will set sail from Tianjin under the new name "Vision". The plans suggest a comprehensive modernisation of vessel.

The 'Goddess of the Night', better known as the former 'Costa Magica', has been sold by Seajets to the Chinese cruise line Tianjin Orient International Cruises after years of being laid up, planned relaunches, and abandoned brands. Seajets' failed cruise division, Neonyx, had attempted to relaunch the ship as an adults-only party ship in Greece, but that project fell through. Now the ship is heading for Asia and resurfacing with a new identity. Its provisional name, "Vision," will be replaced by the official name for the Chinese market, "Ideal." Operations are scheduled to begin in the summer of 2026 from Tianjin. As of Nov 18, 2025, the ship remained stationary in Astakos. Tianjin Orient already operates the former 'Sea Princess', now renamed 'Dream', which has been sailing for the Chinese brand since 2023.

The 'Goddess of the Night' was seized on June 12 due to severe sanitary issues, including unusable toilets, water leaks, and broken air conditioning. Many cabins were deemed uninhabitable, forcing officers to relocate to hotels and another nearby ship. Officers encountered flooding, torn mattresses, moldy food, and waste materials scattered throughout the ship. A letter dated on June 10 to the Director General of Public Security Prefect Vittorio Pisani from the Secretary General Domenico Pianese said, “This is a gruesome housing condition that the Administration has reserved for thousands of our colleagues. The colleagues, rightly bezzled by how they were treated, will clearly do their best to make our country that has the honor of hosting the G7 well, but we believe that your urgent intervention is a must to ensure minimum conditions of livability to those who have been sent from all over Italy to guarantee the security of the important summit.” Initial investigations confirmed “significant hygienic-sanitary criticalities and serious accommodation deficiencies.” Following an order from prosecutors in Brindisi, the ship was seized to facilitate further investigations. The ship was moored at the port of Brindisi on June 9 to begin housing officers ahead of the summit. The Ministry of the Interior had inspected the ship in April 2024, documenting severe deficiencies not addressed before the event. In response to the seizure, 1,800 officers were moved to nearby hotels, while another 600 were transferred to the 'GNV Azzurra'. Although the ship has undergone two renovations, the last was in 2003. It was also facing scrutiny for inadequate conditions. The police union said the new ship, which can accommodate 2,180 passengers in 570 cabins, presented “a situation already critical in itself to an even more inadequate solution.” The situation testifies to “a total failure and an unacceptable inadequacy on the part of those who had to take care of it.” The case has been brought to parliamentarians as a possible case of fraud against the ship’s owner. Italian authorities take drastic action over the 'Goddess of the Night' which has berthed in Brindisi on June 8, 2024, for housing cops protecting US president Biden and G7 leaders. The roughly 2,000 carabonieri who had been providing security for the conference were facing unusable toilets due to sewage leaks, torn mattresses and multiple signs of flooding. There were waste and other materials everywhere. The ship is docked in Brindisi, where Joe Biden was set to land on the evening of June 12, 2024. The financial status of the cruise ship that was being used for police is still in flux. The ship has been seized on an order from prosecutors, with the Interior Ministry reserving the right to take legal action over the estimated $6.5 million charter. The ship was among a number of vessels exiting the Carnival Corp. during the pandemic, and the eighth which was acquired by Seajets' Marios Iliopoulos. Handed over in Feb 2023, initially it was renamed 'Mykonos Magic' but hasn't operated in revenue service. Renamed 'Goddess of the Night', it recently was announced to begin offering short music festival and party cruises in the Aegean for adults only starting July 15. The Carnival Corporation has sold the 'Costa Magica' to the Greek ferry company Seajets, which has renamed it 'Mykonos Magic' under Bermudas flag. Following the COVID pandemic, the 'Costa Magica' was one of five ships in the Costa Cruises fleet that had still not resumed guest services. In 2021, the Carnival Cruise Line announced that the 'Costa Magica' would be transferred from the Costa to the Carnival fleet, where it would go into dry dock for a refresh and rebranding. This plan did not materialize, and the 'Costa Luminosa' replaced the ship, becoming the 'Carnival Luminosa' in November 2022. The 'Mykonos Magic' is now the largest and youngest ship in the Seajets fleet. The Greek company currently owns five cruise ships that it acquired during the pandemi, and about 20 short-distance ships that provide a ferry service through the country’s islands.
