Glovis-Sirius

On Oct 31, 2018, at 10.45 a.m. the "Glovis Sirius" allided with the Northern lock when leaving the overseas port of Bremerhaven. The accident happened in spite of the assistance of three tugs. The ship hit the eastern side of the lock which suffered slight damage. The hull of the vehicles carrier was breached 4-5 meters above the waterline at the starboard side stern in the area of a fresh water tank for fire exinguishing foam. The safety of the ship was not affected as a second tank was available for this purpose. The ship, however, was detained until repairs have been carried out. By Nov 1 it was still berthed in the North Port.
