The 'Elbus' has arrived off Inebolu on Jan 8, escorted by a patrol vessel of the Turkish Coastguard. At the time of the drone attack, the ship had been ballasting along the Turkish coast, bound for the Russian terminal at Novorossiysk. No crew members were injured and there was no pollution from the vessel. Initially the Coast Guard had been arranging for the vessel to be towed to Turkey, but it arrived at Inebolu under its own power. Local officials were conducting a detailed inspection of the vessel and would clarify the extent of the damage and seek to identify the source of the attack. The ship was struck in the upper works. The 'Elbus', with 25 crew members on board, was struck by a drone at the height of the engine room, while transiting the Black Sea on Jan 7, 2026. while sailing eastbound enroute to Novorossiysk around 30 nautical miles off the Turkish coast in a UAV and drone attack. The tanker diverted from its course at the time of the incident, and made a sharp turn toward the Turkish coastline. Turkish Coastguard teams were dispatched to the area following an emergency call from the vessel. The drone strike caused damage to the upper section of the ship, but no injuries or pollution were reported. The tanker was able to reach safety anddropped anchor off İnebolu in pos. 42° 01' N 033° 44' E, where it arrived under its own power. The vessel was assisted by Turkish authorities during its move. Ukraine’s armed forces has not claimed responsibility for the incident.

United Leadership, the vessel carrying the first cargo of Kurdish pipeline crude to load out of the Turkish port of Ceyhan, has moved further away from the coast of Morocco over the last two days after being turned away from the port of Mohammedia, sources said. According to Platts ship-tracking software c-Flow, the vessel is currently laden and stationary off of the coast of Morocco and awaiting orders. It had been moving towards Mohammedia earlier this week, and there was speculation that it was planning to offload its cargo at the 200,000 b/d Mohammedia refinery, owned by Samir. However, shipping source said the vessel never actually docked at the port to offload and was turned away. “She has left for orders, and we don’t know her destination,” a port agent said. “We don’t know her destination, but she was not accepted here by the refinery.”
