Arklow Ruler remains stuck
The "Arklow Ruler" remained stuck in Drogheda with a non hazardous cargo and eight people on board. The "Arklow Ruler" is a sister ship of the "Arklow Raider" which ran aground in October 2012. Attempts to refloat the "Arklow Ruler" with the high tide were unsuccessful on May 25. The Irish Coastguard did not sight any pollution. The ship was not in danger. Arklow Ruler aground off Drogheda
Coming from Antwerp, the "Arklow Ruler" has run aground at the mouth of the River Boyne in Co Louth with a crew of nine on board on May 25, 2014. The ship got twisted up on the banks at around 9:30 a.m. at the entrance to Drogheda port. Arklow Ruler troubled off Bolt Head
The "Arklow Ruler" suffered trouble while enroute Felixstowe to Newport on Dec 15, 2013, at 11.50 p.m. The vessel stopped for some hours 2.9 miles SW Bolt Head (Salcombe) with a SW wind of about 30 knots and timewise was at anchor. The "Arklow Field" (IMO-No.: 9527673) being underway from Drogheda to Ipswich has altered course and was standing by 1.2 miles from the "Arklow Ruler". On Dec 16 at 8 a.m. the Belgium AHT "Union Boxer" (IMO-No.: 9537537) which was enroute from Zeebrugge to Luanda Angola was standing by, while the "Arklow Field" continued its voyage.
