Allision off Chattogram
On Sep 7, 2024, at around 2 p.m., the bulk carrier 'Navioas Celestial' (IMO:9496226) was in allision with the 'Friendly Island' at Chattogram Port. The incident took place when the 'Navois Celestial', carrying a cargo of DAP fertiliser, hit the 'Friendly Island', which was anchored and unloading lentils, with its starboard side stern at the bow. The impact caused damage to both vessels, including the propellers of one vessel becoming stuck. An investigation is underway by the local port authorities to determine the cause of the accident. As of Sep 9, the 'Friendly Island' was moored in pos. 22° 16' N 091° 43' E.
