Oil spill in Myrina
During bunkering ops by the 'Fres' an oil spill occurred at the port of Myrina on June 13, 2020. The pollution was detected by the Port Authority. 40 litres of oil consisting of iridescent oil stains were covering an area of 60 square metres. The Port Authority was immediately informed by the master of the tanker and the shipping company, which hired a private decontamination company. An oil boom was laid out as well as absorbents and the spill removed with satisfactory results. The Port Authority of Myrina detained the vessel until the presentation of a bank letter of guarantee to cover a probable fine of 32,800 Euros, as well as a letter of guarantee from the bank equal to the insurance policy of the insured.
