Rescued castaway handed over to US Coastguard
On Dec 16, 2017, the "Esshu Maru" rescued a crew member from a fishing boat that wrecked in the North Pacific Ocean. Early in the morning the tankerm, being underway in the North Pacific Ocean bound from Balboa toward Pyeongtaek via the Panama Canal, received a request for rescue assistance from the United States Maritime Rescue Coordination Center, and rushed to the scene. At 11:30 a.m. on the same day, the crew safely rescued a castaway in pos. 12°59' 113°17' W. At 07:22 on December 22, the vessel handed over the survivor to the United States Coast Guard off Oahu.
