Pirates left ship
The crew of the 'ESL Australia' managed to shelter in citadel during the pirate attack. When the Nigerian Naval ship 'Donny' (MMSI 657121200) approached, the pirates left the ship after having looted cabins and service compartments, taking with them properties. The ship resumed sailing towards Douala in the evening of May 21.
Container ship attacked off Bonny
The 'ESL Austrailia' was attacked in the Gulf of Guinea SSW of Bonny on May 20, 2020, around 4 p.m. The ship was en route from Takoradi to Douala. The ship ws adrift in pos. 02° 15.89' N 005° 9.98' E in the evening.

This 15,750 tonnes vessel, measuring 143.00 meters in length and 21.50 meters in width, was built at Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding Group Co. Ltd in 2007.
