Disabled tanker towed to Tuzla for repairs
The 'Chem Violet', which had suffered an engine failure at Rio de Janeiro on Aug 1, 2019, was taken in tow by the tug 'Amber II' on Feb 14, 2020, as repair works could not be carried out by the crew. The convoy was bound to Tuzla. During the Canakkale Strait passage, a coastal safety tug provided escort service for the vessel and Strait traffic safety. The ETA at the Tuzla shipyard area was March 31. The tanker has entered the shipyard upon completion of its formalities as of April 3. A detailed damage survey was carried out by the class surveyors, shipyard engineers and the owner's superintendent. Repairs has been commenced as per class surveyor's further recommendations.
