The "Tourist Ferry Boat Primo" ran aground on the beach of Casamicciola on Ischia, southwest of Naples, in the Tyrrhenian Sea, on Feb 9 in stormy weather with rough seas. The ship was broadside on the beach in front of Pio Monte della Misericordia, near the port of Casamicciola. It was transporting hydrocarbon gas and had just left the port of Casamicciola towards Pozzuoli. Eight trucks with gasoline, eight drivers and seven crew members were on board the Pozzuoli ship. They could leave the Ferry through a trap door onto the beach. The tug "Guarracino" had tried to pull the ship to sea without success and returned to Naples. Also the Medmar ferries "Benito Buono" and "Rosa D'Abundo" connected to the ship after weather improvement. Finally the vessel was refloated on Feb 13 at 5 p.m. and towed to Casamicciola. The trucks which had remained on board were transferred to Naples onto the "Bilton".
