The "Joern N" which by Nov 5 was still being held in Rijeka, was apparently navigated by autopilot when sinking the "Golub" in the Adriatic Sea. Apparently no one was at the helm of the ship when the collision occurred only a few miles from the coast. The captain learned from the sinking only via radio, the officer on duty of the "Joerg N." said that he did not remark the collision The man stated, however, that he had seen the fishing boat still afloat. The Hamburg-based shipping company of the "Joerg N" anticipated that the vessel may leave Rijeka early next week. The local authorities claim, however, that the shipping company filed a bailout.

The "Joerg N" is accused to have fled from the scene after the sinking of the Croatian f/v without caring for the shipwrecked crew. The vessel on its way from Ceuta to Rijeka had run into the "Golub" short before reaching its destination on Nov 1 five miles off Pula. After the crew of eight was able to reach the coast in its rescue boat, they raised alarm at the Croatian Coastguard. Investigators boarded the "Joerg N" in Rijeka to question the crew and survey damage to the ship.

Enroute Ceuta-Rijeka, the "Joerg N" was in collision with the Croatian f/v "Golub" in the night of Nov 1, 2011. The accident happened about five miles southwest of Pula, the homeport of the "Golub". None of the eight crew members was injured and all were rescued with their own work/rescue boats, the "Golub" sank.
