Engine failure off Nha Trang
The 'Biendong Trader' suffered an engine failure in the afternoon of Dec 19, 2020, off Nha Trang, South Vietnam, en route from Phu My to Quy Nhon. The ship anchored to stop the drift in stormy seas. The patrol boat 991 was deployed to the scene to assist on Dec 19 at 9.30 p.m. On Dec 20 at 6.30 a.m. it approached the ship. On Dec 20 at 6 p.m. the crew managed to restart the engine, and the vessel reached the Cam Ranh Bay. The ship was expected to return to Ninh Thuan port for troubleshootng.
