Containers fell from deck of boxship
During cargo operations at Koper in the afternoon of June 13, 2017, a 5-containers stack on board of the "Gerner Maersk" toppled. Three fell onto the pier, two other into the water and were stuck between the pier wall and the ship’s hull. The containers were loaded with tires, protection films, garden furniture and were destined for Trieste, the ship's next port of call. All five containers, with their load, were recognized as total loss. Mishandling was thought to be the cause of the accident.
