Purse seiner damaged by patrol vessel
During a fisheries inspection, the patrol vessel "Sortland" (IMO: 9432646) slammed into the starboard side of the "Gerda Marie" on Oct 30, 2025, at 11.03 p.m. causing a dent with its bulb bow bulb in Sørøysundet near Sørøya in Finnmark. The incident occurred in connection with a boarding manoever. The vessels were steering in a crossing course at a low speed, when the purse seiner was struck amidships. The 'Sortland' suffered minor damage to the bulb bow. There were no injuries to both the crew of the 'Sortland' or the 'Gerda Marie' in connection with the collision.
