Disabled hydrofoil towed to Piraeus
On the eveningof Aug 25, the Port Authorities of Piraeus, Saronic Gulf and Aegina were informed of a mechanical failure aboard the 'Flying Dolphin XIX', which was sailing two nautical miles south of the port of Piraeus. The ship was en route from Aegina to the port of Piraeus with 118 passengers and six crew members on board. Three Greek Coast Guard patrol boat and the tug 'SVS II' (IMO: 1062653) immediately proceeded to its position to provide assistance. Thehydrofoil was taken in tow by the 'SVS II' and pulled to the central port of Piraeus, where it safely moored and disembarked its passengers. The Argosaronic Gulf Port Guard of the 1st Port Department Tzelepi banned the ship from sailing until the presentation of a seaworthiness certificate from the monitoring classification society. A preliminary investigation was conducted by the 1st Port Department Tzelepi of the Central Port Authority of Piraeus.
Obstruction got stuck in fin
On the afternoon of Agu 5, the Port Authority of Argosaronic Gulf was informed by the Captain of the 'Flying Dolphin XIX', that an obstruction had got suck in the vessel's fins, during its scheduled route from the port of Aegina to Piraeus. The ship sailed to the port of Piraeus at a reduced speed, where it safely disembarked its 117 passengers. The 1st Port Guard of Argosaronic Gulf of the Central Port Authority of Piraeus banned the hydrofoil from sailing until the damage was repaired and a certificate of class maintenance was presented by the classification society monitoring the ship.
Hydrofoil suffered crack in the stern
On the afternoon of July 3, 2025, the Port Authority of the Argosaronic Gulf was informed by the captain of the 'Flying Dolphin XIX' that an object had possible got entangled in the ship's fins while sailing in the waters of ββthe Piraeus anchorage of a scheduled route from the port of Aegina. The ship sailed safely to the port of Piraeus, where it disembarked 14 passengers, while it subsequently had scheduled routes for the ports of Aegina and Agistri with 16 passengers, who were forwarded to their destination with the company's care. During an underwater inspection by a diver, a crack in the stern of the ship was found. The Argosaronic Gulf Port Guard banned the ship from sailing until the damage was repaired and a certificate of seaworthiness was issued by the monitoring classification society. As of July 4, the ferry was moored in Perama in pos. 37Β° 58' N 023Β° 34' E.
Ferry suffered mechanical damage
The Port Authority of Poros was informed in the afternoon of Oct 20, 2021, by the Captain of the 'Flying Dolphin XIIX" about a mechanical damage to the port side main engine while the ship was operating its scheduled route Spetses - Hydra - Poros - Piraeus. The ship safely reached the port of Poros and disembarked the 75 passengers who were taken to their destinations by the comapany as well as 25 passengers who were waiting at the port of Poros. The Port Authority of Poros initially banned the ferry from sailing. AFter the presentation of a class maintenance certificate by the monitoring classification society, a single voyage to a shipyard in Perama was allowed to repair the damage.
Mechanical failure off Hydra
The Port Authority of Hydra was informed in the afternoon of July 8, 2021, by the Captain of the "Flying Dolphin XIX" about a mechanical failure of the port side main engine during its scheduled service from the port of Poros to the port of Hydra. The ship sailed on a conventional prpopulsion to port and safely disembarked its 82 passengers, 51 of whom had reached their final destination. The Hydra Port Authority initially banned the ship from sailing. After the presentation of a class maintenance certificate by the monitoring classification society it allowed an individual voyage for a yard in Perama to repair the damage. The remaining 31 passengers were transported to their destinations with the care of the ship owner.
