Mechanical failure off Poros
On the afternoon of Oct 11, 2024, the Port Authority of Poros was informed by the Master of the'Flying Cat 6¨ that a mechanical failure occurred in the port side main engine while sailing towards the port of Poros en route from the port of Piraeus while serving the route Poros-Hydra-Ermioni-Spetses-Porto Heli with one 123 passengers on board. The ship sailed to the port of Poros and disembarked the passengers. The Port Authority of Poros initially prohibited the departure of the ferry. Upon presentation of a seaworthiness certificate from the monitoring classification society, a single voyage without cargo and passengers, to the port of Piraeus was allowed. The passengers were forwarded to their destination by the care of the company.
Hydrofoil sidelined after vibrations were detected
On the morning of Oct 6, the Argosaronic Port Authority was informed that the 'Flying Cat 6', which was sailing from the port of Poros to the port of Piraeus, encountered vibrations during the mooring process in Piraeus, which was detected at the port side stern side of the ship. The hydrofoil safely docked and disembarked its 137 passengers. The Port Authority prohibited the sailing of the ship until the repair of the damage and the presentation of a certificate of class maintenance by the monitoring classification society.
Ferry suffered engine damage
On the morning of April 16, 2024, the Port Authority of Argosaronicos was informed by the Master of the 'Flying Cat 6' that during its scheduled route from Porto Heli via Spetses, Ermioni, Hydra and Poros to the port of Piraeus, the ship experienced a malfunction in the starboard side main engine. The ferry sailed safely to Piraeus, where it disembarked the 176 passengers and its 12 crew members. The Port Authority banned the ship from sailing until the repair of the damage and the presentation of a certificate of class maintenance by the monitoring classification society. The next scheduled route was carried out by the catamaran ferry 'Aereo 1' to the ports of Poros, Hydra, Spetses and Porto Helio.
