Ferry suffered engine failure
On the morning of Dec 22, the 8th Port Guard of Argosaronic Gulf of the 1st Port Department of the Central Port Authority of Piraeus was informed by the Captain of the 'Flying Cat 5', that the port side main engine had suffered a malfunction, while the ship was sailing on the route Poros-Spetses-Hydra. The catamaran returned to Piraeus,where it safely disembarked the 115 passengers. The Port Authority banned the ship from sailing until the presentation of a certificate of class maintenance from the classification society that monitors it.
Mechanical failure off Piraeus
On the morning of Oct 12, 2024, the 'Flying Cat 5' suffered a mechanical failure of the starboard side main engine. The Port Authority of Argosaronicos was informed by the Captain of the catamaran about the damage which occurred while sailing out of the port of Piraeus. The ship was covering the route from the port of Porto Helio to Spetses, Ermioni, Hydra, Poros and Piraeus with 141 passengers on board. It sailed under its own power to the port of Piraeus and safely disembarked its passengers. The ship was then banned from sailing by the Argosaronico Port Authority until the repair of the damage and the presentation of a certificate of maintenance of class by the monitoring classification society.
Hydrofoil suffered engine damage
The Port Authority of Ermioni was informed on Oct 6, 2021, by the Captain of the 'Flying Cat 5' that the ship, while en route from the port of Spetses to the port of Ermioni, had suffered a damage to the starboard side main engine. It sailed safely to the port of Ermioni with eight passengers, while another 20 passengers were waiting to board at the port. These were forwarded to their destination with the care of the ship-owning company. The Port Authority of Nafplio banned the ship from sailing until presenting a certificate of seaworthiness from the classification society that monitors it. Then its departure was allowed for a single voyage without passengers to Piraeus for repairs. It sailed again on Oct 7 at 5 p.m.
