Ferry suffered engine failure
On the evening of Sep 2, 2025, the Port Authority of Poros was informed by the captain of the 'Flying Cat 3' about a failure of the port side main engine, while sailing towards the port of Poros. The ship was operating a scheduled route from the port of Spetses to Hydra - Poros and Piraeus with 94 passengers and 13 crew members on board. After reaching the port of Poros, it safely disembarked its passengers. The Poros Port Authority initially prohibited the departure of the ferry. After the presentation of a certificate from the Local Inspection Team, it was permitted a single voyage to the port of Piraeus without cargo and passengers. The passengers bound for the port of Piraeus were forwarded to their destination with the care of the ship-owning company.
Fery evacuated due to suspicion of explosive device on board
On the afternoon of April 20, 2025, upon the arrival of the 'Flying Cat 3' at the port of Poros, the Port Authority of Poros was informed of the possible existence of an explosive device on board. The ferry was operating the scheduled route Spetses-Hydra-Poros-Piraeus. Immediately, Port Authority officials evacuated the passengers and crew from board, while at the same time the adjacent area of ββthe port was also blocked. In addition, a fire engine, an ambulance vehicle, as well as officials of the Poros Coast Guard were dispatched to the scene. Subsequently, a patrol boat transported members of the Explosive Devices Response Team of the Greek Coast Guard to the site, where a check of the ship, passengers and luggage was carried out with negative results. The ship then continued its route with 256 passengers and 13 crew members on board. A preliminary investigation is being conducted by the Poros Port Authority.
Engine trouble in Piraeus
The Port Authority of Argosaronikos was informed by the Captain of the 'Flying Cat 3', that while preparing to perform its scheduled route from Piraeus to Poros, Hydra and Spetses, the port side main engine could not be started on the morning of July 19, 2024. The Port Authority banned the ferry from sailing until a certificate of class maintenance was presented by the monitoring classification society. The passengers were forwarded to their destinations by the 'Flying Cat 6'.
Main engine could not be started
On the afternoon of June 27, 2024, the Central Port Authority of Piraeus was informed by the master of the 'Flying Cat 3' that during the process of starting its main engines in the port of Piraeus, the port side main engine could not be started. The ship was preparing to set sail for the planned route to the ports of Poros, Hydra and Spetson. With the care of the ship-owning company, the passengers were forwarded to their destination. The Port Authority banned the ferry from sailing until the presentation of a class certificate and a seaworthiness certificate by the monitoring classification society.
