Grounding on the Don
The 'Florica' with 14 Azerbaijani crew members on board and loaded with steel billets, ran aground on the River Don in Russia's Rostov Oblast on its way from Rostov-on-Don to the port of Samsun on Oct 2, 2024, at 1:50 p.m. Moscow time. The vessel got stuck on a sandbar. The crew was reported to be safe and unharmed. Local authorities have deployed two tugs to assist in refloating the vessel. The incident has not disrupted shipping traffic in the area.
