Accomodation platform punctured at least three times by anchor
After the "Floatel Superior" was moored at Vestbase, three large holes became visible in the floating tanks, which were obviously torn when an anchor struck against the steel. There was also a strong abrasion of paint caused by the anchor moving back and forth along the platform leg.In the afternoon of Nov 11 the Aak IRV in Kristiansund started rigging up in order to repair the damage to the "Floatel Superior". The Aak Group has about 30 employees in Kristiansund. Floatel International hoped the repairs of the rig will only take a week. Accomodation platform reached Kristiansund
The "Floatel Superior" reached Kristiansund late in the night of Nov 10. The owner company expected that it would be repaired and back in operation within one to two weeks. The accomodation platform had sailed the 70 nautical miles from the Njord Field to the oil base with its own power and with a crew of 38 on board. The rig was towed into the harbor in the run of Nov 10 and moored at Quay 6 of Vestbase. Under governance of Vestbase the Aak IRV will perform the actual welding work which started on Nov 11 with all available crew to get the job done. There were so far confirmed two holes in the ballast tanks. Representatives from both the owner company, police, Statoil and PTIL (Petroleumstilsynet) started a first inspection of the damage.
